The Old Covenant was established on the Law…failure to live up to this Law was sin and always led to death…usually the life of a sacrificed perfect lamb and it’s shed blood… but according to these laws…with out a sacrifice…all must die.
The New covenant was ushered in with Jesus Christ…One Lamb…God’s Lamb…His Son…the perfect sacrifice…once and for all…Jesus Christ…the Lamb that was slain for us all…His blood, shed for the World.
The Old Covenant…of Law and Bondage…leading to death was written in stone.
The New Covenant…of Spirit and Freedom…leading to eternal life…is written on our Hearts…
The Old Covenant is like a man taking a dog for a walk on a leash…The dog on the leash is like one living under the Law…controlled by the length of the leash. when this dog continually pulls against the leash…both dog and master have an unpleasant walk.
The New Covenant is like one taking his dog for a walk without a leash…The unleashed dog lives as one lives in the Spirit…controlled by the voice of his master. when this dog responds to his master’s voice…and comes when he is called…then they enjoy many walks together. However if this dog ceases to respond and does not come when called…the master picks out another dog and the old dog becomes a stray.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 Hebrews 8:8-10
“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah– “not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. “No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” – Jeremiah 31:31-34 NKJV
